The seasons are starting to transition and the cooler air is finally floating in. Crunchy leaves, crackling fires and themed activities are at the forefront of our minds and you might be thinking of selling or potentially buying a holiday home.
With summer ending, it's easy to assume that your lodge or caravan is no longer needed or the time to buy has passed. We can assure you though that there are plenty of reasons to buy or keep your home.
From fun days out to cosy nights in, there's absolutely no reason why you can't continue to get the most from your holiday home.
Below are some of our favourite ways you can enjoy your lodge/caravan in the autumn.
Get outdoors!
-
Pumpkin picking!
Starting with the obvious, going to pick your own pumpkins from a pumpkin patch is the ultimate autumn activity. It’s great for the whole family and can last as long or as little as you like. Find your nearest patch and take a trip up there for the day. You can use them as decorations for your holiday home or have a carving day!
-
Walks and cycling routes
Bundle up in your favourite coat and go for a walk in the autumn air. Watch the seasons change, explore new areas and look out for conker trees! You can also take advantage of the cycle routes if you fancy something a little more active. Cycle through forests and country parks and watch the leaves fall beneath the wheels. If you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder or the milder winter blues, a weekend away to your new home to cycle will be hugely beneficial.
-
Museums
Take a trip to the museum! They’re a great way to spend the day when it’s colder outside but you still want to get out. Explore history, art and culture whilst sipping on a warm coffee.
-
Utilise the empty beaches
Even if the sun isn't shining, the scenery is just as beautiful as it is in the summer months. Wrap up warm, bring a flask and enjoy the windy walks along the coastline! You’ll get the beach all to yourselves which in itself is a rarity! Little ones will love exploring the rockpools whilst you take in the views (and maybe catch a lovely autumn sunset). Finish it off with fish and chips to warm your bellies up.
-
Stargazing and marshmallows
A lovely thing to do with family and friends. Grab some cosy blankets and chairs, a portable burner (or any other safe burner) and roast marshmallows! A clear autumn night can reveal a beautiful sky and as a lot of parks are out of the city, you’ll get an even clearer view!
-
Sparklers and fireworks
Bonfire night is looked forward to by many. Families flock to events to watch the multicoloured displays. Use your home as an opportunity to attend a new display and the destination to carry on the celebration with sparklers!
-
events
There are plenty of fairs, markets and outdoor activities still happening through the autumn. Think fairs, farmer's markets, petting farms, outdoor cinemas etc. Take a look at what's happening in the area and spend a day out and about. There's always the warmth of your home to return to.
Investments
Even if you are done with your travels this year, others aren’t! Keep your home and rent it out for others to enjoy through the season. It’s also a great extra income to have for the upcoming holidays!
Would rather stay inside?
-
Movie night
Imagine snuggling up in the cosiest of blankets with your loved ones, popcorn and snacks in hand, ready to watch a movie marathon. The more people the better.
-
Homemade hot chocolate
Spend an evening making homemade hot chocolate! A real treat in the making and great when accompanied by whipped cream, a selection of the finest sprinkles, and a good movie.
-
Cook and bake together
Get everyone involved and make something together that you've not made before. There's no time limit on a holiday, no work to get up to and no school uniforms to prepare. Cooking/baking can be incredibly therapeutic and you’ll get to enjoy some great food afterwards.
-
Take the time to read all the books
House too loud? Fed up with never getting time to yourself? your new home is perfect for getting away and having that well-deserved you time to read to your heart's content. Snuggle up next to the window with a blanket, grab your book, and watch the leaves fall outside whilst you read. You're guaranteed to come back feeling zen.
-
Autumn photoshoot
Use your new home as the backdrop for some family photo shoots! Get creative, decorate like crazy and take photos you’ll love looking back on.
-
Utilise the hot tub!
Ever been in a toasty hot tub when the air is cold?
If you have a hot tub accompanying your home, we highly recommend you give it a go. Sit in the warm bubbling water whilst breathing in the fresh autumn air.
Will they keep me warm?
Rest assured, most new leisure homes have fireplaces, double glazing and gas central heating to make sure you stay toasty and warm throughout the months.
No matter the season, it's important we take time out to recentre ourselves and take a well-needed break. With autumn and winter being busier seasons, it's twice as important to take the time and slow down.
