Set amidst 250 acres of tranquil farmland, in delightful Suffolk countryside, your luxury lodge will be a peaceful haven, where you can relax, spend time at ease and recharge your batteries. It will also be the ideal base from which to explore the local area, from unspoilt countryside, lovely beaches or renowned coastal hotspots. Time spent sipping wine, surveying the countryside from your large patio, is never wasted!

For nature lovers you can enjoy a wide variety of wildlife at Welhams Meadow. Wild deer are often seen on the park and we have a family of otters who can often be seen playing in the morning sunshine… The more active can enjoy cycle riding and walks as well as fishing in our two lakes.

The quintessential retreats are the ultimate base for entertaining friends and family, whether on your patio, enjoying the views, or inside, in comfort, around the fire. The lodges are equipped with the best of modern living with fully integrated kitchen appliances and sumptuous furnishings.

Outside is a patio overlooking our two fishing lakes and lawn area with plenty of space to spread out to enjoy the outdoors. There are two parking spaces per lodge and plenty of room to turn around on the communal courtyard space. There is also a site office fitted with discreet security cameras.

There is a strong Wi-Fi signal and good mobile phone coverage with O2 and Vodafone.

Our four luxurious Kingfisher lodges are nestled in the rural Suffolk country side, offering walking, cycling, trips both locally to visit nearby pubs and restaurants, well-known villages such as Bildeston and Lavenham, and on to the historical town of Bury St Edmunds to the west and the Suffolk Coastline to the east.

Welhams Meadow is located near the market town of Stowmarket which is 1 hour and 20 minutes by train to London Liverpool Street station. (This line is currently being upgraded so that by 2020 the journey will be even quicker, and more comfortable with a new fleet of trains.) So that in a short space of time a different pace of life awaits you!

This area is surrounded by peaceful rural landscapes and many picturesque villages. The delightful heritage coast towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are within easy reach. The beauty of our landscape is reflected in the work of John Constable who studied and painted Dedham Vale, which is only a short drive away.

Open Day Activities

Guided Farm Walk

Enjoy this beautiful part of the countryside with family and friends! Find out where your food comes from! See the crops we grow now and how the land was used 1000 years ago. The medieval wood and the conservation areas are highlights with a large reservoir and fishing lakes. These attract wildlife, such as kingfishers, barn owls, otters and many deer!

Local groups, attractions and hearty traditional country pubs!

There will be an array of information about the nearest places to enjoy food and drink (including some excellent ales!). New Lodge owners will receive a £50 meal voucher at our village community-run pub The Punch Bowl Inn. We have made a map of local attractions so you can see how we are in the centre of all the action, with the coast a short drive to the East and Newmarket to the West.

Discover local history of the Knights of St John

Hospitality is in our nature: By the 12th century the Manor (200 metres from Welhams Meadow) had become the property of the Order of the Knights of St John and became their headquarters for Suffolk. Records kept at St Johns Gate in London, show that this site is unique in having detailed records of the four hundred years between 1150 and 1550. We have conducted a vast amount of research to consolidate written accounts, previous occupants, photographs and extensive exterior archaeological digs; with some being on display!

Renewable energy system

To celebrate our award-winning renewable energy systems at Welhams Meadow, there will be information about our discreet solar panels that collect the sun’s energy, which is then stored in the innovative Tesla batteries. This reduces the cost on both the environment and the energy bills. Ideal for one of the sunniest parts in the country!
